2008 Pierre Moncuit, Extra Brut, Grand Cru Millésime (RT94+) Another visit with the superb 2008 Millésime bottling, the Pierre Moncuit has blossomed into an captivating beauty with a few years of cellaring and will continue to move in a positive direction with additional cellaring. Crafted from 100% estate grown Chardonnay of vines 50 years and older, it is aged 6-8 years on lees and is only bottled in the best vintages. The fruit comes exclusively from Mesnil-Sur-Oger vineyards. It undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation and received 3.5 g/l dosage. This is now a deep golden hue and wafts up powerful notes built on a foundation of smokey brioche, toasted almond, a pinch of lemon oil and dusted oyster shell. The mouthfeel delivers ample tension between fruit and acidity, while maintaining a gentle, generously fruited and mouth coating texture with a slightly creamy finish. Absolutely delicious and available at a relatively affordable price. Drink now-2035+ Tasted May 2026
