2022 Adelsheim, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley (RT92) A well balanced bouquet delivering both fruit and terroir-driven notes of red stone fruit compote, cranberry liqueur, slightly damp earth, crush gravel and a pinch of dried porcinis. The palate is elegant and crafted on a foundation of delicious, ripe, acid-accentuated fruit and is light and refreshing in overall density with the ripe tannins showing just enough presence to provide structural definition. It is well crafted and shows the depth of the Willamette Valley AVA. This is Adelsheim’s largest production wine with more than 200,000 bottles closed under screw cap. For such a voluminous scaled wine, the quality is impressive. Its versatility makes it a perfect food wine, ideal for pairing with grilled appetizers, meat dishes and hearty pasta dishes. This wine receives both destemmed and whole cluster fermentation along with native and inoculated fermentation. It is aged in 18% new French oak, the balance in neutral oak, for 9 months. As I’ve previously commented, “this is a Less is More style of wine and will benefit from a year or two in the bottle.” Drink now-2032 Tasted October 2025
