The Latest Releases from Giulia Negri – October 2025
Giulia Negri started her career as a winemaker and producer not long ago with a small plot of prime La Morra vineyards that her parents owned. She was a youthful 24 year old just out of school and with a different perspective on Barolo than the peers she had grown up with. While inspired by Burgundian Pinot Noir, she recognized that Nebbiolo was a much different grape and embraced large format cask – aka botti – from the start. The impressive quality of her first few vintages landed her instant respect. The rest is history. This said, the winery remains tiny in scale and production is thus highly limited. She works with 6 hectares of vineyards, all in the Serradenari Cru, a relatively unknown site. This is a classic La Morra site rich in sand, fossils and clay which, in the right winemaking hands, can produce majestic, elegant Barolos.
From the highest vineyards in all of Barolo, her wines are truly the creation of “garagiste” winemaking. Giulia produces Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, all is small quantities that embrace highly traditional methods and character. In some vintages she also crafts a gorgeous Barbera. While her family has worked on the estate lands producing wine for the past 150 years, her recent foray has brought new focus on the estate. Total production is less than 40,000 bottles and the house style leans toward a highly transparent and traditionally styled wines, featuring soaring aromatics and exotic nuances. Keep an eye on this emerging estate!
I am proud to present these current releases for your reading pleasure and vinous pursuits. The are wines to revel in, to cellar and share with family and friends. But they are all small production and if you see them in the market, grab while the getting is good.

2023 Giulia Negri, Langhe Nebbiolo, Pian delle Mole (RT92+) The 2023 Pian dell Mole is a super light, pale garnet hue that’s incredibly translucent and defies the power within it. Mentholated notes of ripe Marasca cherry, pomegranate liqueur, red currant, fresh violets, hints of rose petal, sweet herbs and a puff of mineral dust waft up from the glass, The palate is serious and shows the structure of a big brother Barolo yet yields to its weightlessness. The acidity and tannins check in but are not out of balance with the fruit. The finish leads to a magnificently orchestrated conclusion. This is crafted in a convincing style that suggests “Baby Barolo”. Impressive! Drink now-2032 Tasted October 2025
The Langhe Nebbiolo Pian delle Mole is a classic Nebbiolo crafted from young vines which are planted in the lowest elevation portions of the Serradenari Cru, just above nearby Bricco del Dente. 2021 Giulia Negri, Barolo, La Tartufaia (RT94+) Light garnet in its shade and highly translucent, the 2021 La Tartufaia is charged with impressive aromatic lift as notes of red cherry compote, spiced plum, cranberries, balsam sap and hints of anise soar from the glass.
