2021 Giulia Negri, Barolo, La Tartufaia (RT94+) Light garnet in its shade and highly translucent, the 2021 La Tartufaia is charged with impressive aromatic lift as notes of red cherry compote, spiced plum, cranberries, balsam sap and hints of anise soar from the glass. The palate is packed with ripe, delicious fruit that gives it its generous density and solid structure accented by powerful acidity and suave, firm tannins. This is super impressive and will age and drink well for decades. Giulia Negri crafted some amazing wines in the structured, benchmark 2021 vintage and this leads the charge! This portion of the Serradenari vineyard is positioned at 460 meters, making is a bit lower in position than its counterpart Serradenari Barolo. After traditional, gentle pressing, fermentation takes place with only indigenous yeasts (no inoculation) in 60-HL conical wooden vats for 40 days, followed by aging for 24 months in 25-HL Slavonian oak cask. No filtering takes place on this bottling; this is another miniscule production wine.
