2021 Davide Vignato, Veneto IGT, Garganega, el Gian (RT91) This certified organic wine crafted from 100% Garganega is pale straw in color and is crafted in a slightly oxidative style. The bouquet delivers notes of soft lemon, while melon, hints of fennel, brine, chervil and hints of ash combine to cast is an old world character. The palate is light and refreshing with ripe fruit, refreshing acidity and a medium length finish. This is a fabulous pairing with Maryland lump crab cakes, shellfish pasta dishes in cream sauce and pan seared Halibut or Cod. Drink now-2029(+?) Tasted October 2025

The Davide Vignato farm is located in the foothills of southern Veneto near the village of Gambellara. Here the volcanic soil produces wines that evoke a strong sense of place and the uniqueness of this area. A mere 1500 feet from the winery are ancient lava columns from the extinct volcano – Monte San Marco. Garganega is the native variety of the Gambellara area, and the El Gian bottling is representative of the region. The vineyards are an average of 25 years and interestingly some Pergola training exists in the vineyards. After harvest the grapes are gently pressed, fermented and aged on lees in stainless tanks for 5 months, and then bottled.
