2021 Braida, Barbera d’Asti DOCG, Montebruna (RT93+) In the impressive 2021 vintage the Montebruna shines like a star, balancing superb structure with delicious fruit and impressive balance! Beautiful, deep and richly nuanced, notes of Morello cherry, blackberry liqueur, ripe plums, a pinch of Asian spice and soft supple saddle leather waft up. As it unfurls in the glass layer upon layer of ripe fruit emerges, yet it is gorgeously balanced with generous acidity and soft, gentle tannins. Ripe fruit is undoubtedly the heart and soul of this wine, but the balance is impressive given its massive fruit. Drink now-2031+ Tasted September 2025

This Barbera d’Asti DOCG is crafted from 100% Barbera, sourced from vineyards situated in Rocchetta Tanaro. It took seven years to create this patchwork of vineyards that are blended into Montebruna, the sum of which combines to create a wine of outstanding oenological expression. Here the vineyards are comprised of medium density soils of sand and clay in almost equal parts. This is the home to the legendary Bricco dell’Uccellone, Braida’s flagship wine, and the newer Montebruna bottling. After harvesting and gentle pressing, the must spends two weeks in temperature-controlled stainless where it completes fermentation and is then transferred to large oak casks – 20-55 HL – for one year prior to bottling.
