2022 Argentiera, Toscana IGT, Poggio Al Ginepri (RT92) The 2022 vintage of Ginepri is rich, deeply endowed and leans toward the slightly decadent stylistic side. Dark ruby, bordering on opaque, notes of super ripe black cherry, Ariel plum, spicy blackberry liqueur, musk and samp soil waft from the stem. That richness echoes through the mid-weight palate where ripe fruit and a soft overall persona make this delicious wine perfect for early drinking while sharing with friends and family. Pairs perfectly with hearty recipes, grilled meats and sausages. Totally outperforming its prices point, this is a wine to own and one of the current Hot Picks! Drink now-2030 Tasted August 2024

This blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot, is grown just off the shoreline of the western coast of Italy at a low elevation of just 20-80 meters. Here reddish sandy soils created by winds along with ideal temperatures allow Bordeaux varieties to flourish in this part of Italy. Grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently pressed, then fermented for 25 days in temperature controlled stainless tanks, followed by aging in a combination of stainless and used French oak barriques for 6 months. The recent acquisition of property that lies adjacent to, but just outside the Bolgheri DOC boundary has prompted a change in the designation of Ginepri, moving it from the former Bolgheri Rosso DOC label to now bearing the Toscana IGT designation, but the wine is essentially the same and is sourced from the now larger parcel. It is still a single vineyard wine and offers exceptional value.
