2019 Torremilanos, Ribera del Duero, Cyclo (RT93+) Crafted from organically and biodynamically farmed grapes, this is a blend of 95% Tempranillo, 5% Garnacha and a few drops of Tempranillo Blanco. The initial fermentation is in concrete, then it is aged for 15 months in French barriques. Super dark and concentrated, bordering on nearly impenetrable, the bouquet is massive and built like a power lifter. Olympic scaled notes of black cherry, plums, blackberry liqueur, wet bark and damp earth lead to a palate that echoes the aromatics. Delicious gob smacking fruit, soft acidity and sizable, but succulent tannins. Needs a few years to come together, if drinking in the near term do yourself a favor and decant it. It truly needs the O2 to open. I preferred the previous vintages where a full 2% Tempranillo Blanco was used, and the resulting aromatic lift it provided. Drink 2029-2044 Tasted October 2023
