2010 Altare, Langhe, Larigi (RT96) Among the finest Barbera’s to have ever crossed my lips, the 2010 transcends all expectations taking elegance and finesse to unexpected levels for such an ordinarily humble grape. The vines for this wine were planted in 1948 and it is produced in miniscule quantities with a mere 1800-2000 bottles in each vintage. Deep, dark and showing an almost opaque hue, soft notes of ripe black berries, black cherries, brambles and minerals lead pinch of spice. The barrique management is superb and the palate is extraordinarily finessed with flawless balance of fruit and acidity that coats the mouth. This is an emotionally moving Barbera, hovering on the gates of perfection. The Gift of Grace! Drink now-2030+
