2017 Castelfeder, Dolomiti IGT Pinot Nero, Mont Mes (RT89+) Pale ruby and highly translucent, the Mont Mes is a lovely destemmed Pinot Noir with notes of ripe red raspberry, hints of strawberry and background terroir notes of forest floor, cranberries and a smattering of cinnamon. 2018 Castelfeder, Pinot Nero, Glener (RT91) Glen is an historically important vineyard for the winery, ranging from 450 to 790 meters and is located directly above the grand Cru Mazon vineyard. Because of its high elevation it is perfect for the Pinot Nero variety. It shows a medium ruby hue, but remains highly translucent, showing striking aromatics layered with sappy cranberry, strawberry, allspice and clove. 2018 Castelfeder, Schiava, Alte Reben (RT90) Vernatsch is a unique native grape from South Tyrol. This wine is harvested from pergola raised vines. Resembling a light Dolcetto sans tannins, this translucent ruby red wine shows note of plum compote, blackberry, dark cherry and an attractive background of terroir laced sous bois. 2017 Castelfeder, Lagrein, Rieder (RT91) Harvested from another indigenous grape to the South Tyrol, Lagrein prospers in the lower elevation valley floor vineyards of the region where it can bask in the sun and mature slowly. It is aged for 10 months in used barrique, lending additional structure to the wine. This lovely, ruby garnet hued wine wafts up notes of black cherry, smoke, crushed gravel and hints of purple flowers with a peppery spiciness. It is quite tasty on the palate, with charismatic fruit, soft tannin and bright acidity. A lovely every-day drinking expression of the variety. Drink now-2025
