Impressive Madeira’s from Broadbent

June 2022

1997 Broadbent, Madeira, Malvasia, Single Cask No. M235 (RT94) Pale, caramel hued and quite translucent. In the glass it unwinds quickly with a soaring bouquet, classic Madeira in all measures delivering a pungent, complex, lifted bouquet of burnt caramel, roasted hazelnuts, scorched earth, and smoldering campfire. The palate is elegant with lovely, expressive, but lightly portioned fruit, kick ass acidity, and a long finish. This is impressive and downright delicious. Once opened these single cask bottlings will deliver drinking satisfaction for many weeks. Drink now-2047+

1998 Broadbent, Madeira, Boal, Single Cask No. N117 (RT95) Another lightly hued Madeira, this translucent, caramel hued Boal delivers soaring aromatics built around a core of decadently dark maple syrup, smokey hazelnut, burning hot rocks, orange marmalade and a hint of ocean breeze. It coats the mouth with sweet, succulent fruit taking on the form of an endless elixir and is soft in its acidity while delivering a long, taunting finish. This gorgeous vintage Boal is increasingly hard to find but is worth seeking out. Drink now-2050+
