2010 Le Ragnaie, Brunello di Montalcino (RT95) Riccardo Campinoti and his team at Le Ragnaie have been acquiring new vineyards in recent years, including one in the legendary Montosoli Cru, and are continuing to produce Brunello of the highest caliber. For this 2010, from this age-worthy Tuscan vintage, the near decade in the cellar has proven highly beneficial. Classic by every measure, this medium ruby hued wine reveals soaring aromatics of mentholated Morello cherry, raspberry liqueur, savory herbs and scruffy Montalcino brush. A pinch of spice provides an interesting twist. The palate is beautifully balanced with clean, bright fruit accented by a dab of terroir, lovely fresh acidity, and punctuating ripe tannins that bring the mouthfeel to a clean close. Beautiful now, and even more so in the coming years, this will age magnificently. If you’ve got a decent stash, I suggest continuing to cellar them, you will be handsomely rewarded.
