2005 Giacomo Conterno, Barbera d’Alba, Cascina Francia (RT88) Bought on release and stored in my temp-controlled cellar, this bottle simply doesn’t deliver the normally expected goods. While it shows excellent purity of fruit, the overall impression is one of a linear, compact and unexpressive wine, showing a simple, uncomplicated side of Barbera. I’m usually much more impressed with CF Barbara. Followed over the course of three nights, it slipped downhill with each progressive night, ending last night with a very disappointing, overly acidic last glass. Drink 2015-2025+
