Revealing a translucent garnet hue showing all the glamor of mature Barbaresco, the bouquet delivers a high toned, balsam dominated package with complimentary notes of dried roses, menthol, and a streak of minerality. Notes of anise and spice echo in the aftertaste. The palate reveals what a mature Barbaresco is all about; utterly seamless on the palate, the balance is exceptional and the tannins superbly integrated. A fine showing for Cortese’s ’96, bravo!
