2018 Tenuta Argentiera, Bolgheri Rosso DOC, Villa Donoratico (RT93+) Another outstanding blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the grapes are vinified separate from one another, and post malolactic fermentation and blending, most of the wine – 80% – is aged in 500 liter Austrian tonneaux, with the remaining aged in 225 liter French barrique, a large portion of which are neutral. The result is a deep, penetrating bouquet with layers of ripe, delicious blue berries, blackberries, Tuscan herbal brush spice, and an underpinning of minerality. The palate is decadently rich while hiding its structure neatly. Sumptuous acidity keeps it fresh while gentle waves of ripe tannin punctuate the finish convincingly. This artfully crafted wine presentations something that’s ready to savor in its youth yet can cellar quite well. Drink 2022-2032
