2014 Mastrojanni, Brunello di Montalcino (RT93) Showing deeper, more serious aromatics than its Rosso brethren, dark ripe Marasco cherry layered with Tuscan spice, hints of porcini, dried fruits, fall forest floor and a smattering of cedar create the highlights. Light and elegantly fruited with a serious construct, soft acidity and slightly austere tannins mark the finish. This is a nicely done Brunello in a vintage when many declassified their Brunello juice. Aged 3 years in 16,33 & 54 HL botti crafted of Allier oak, then bottled for at least 6 months prior to release. Not the most long-lived Brunello, but damn tasty! The grapes from the Crus Vigna Loreto and Vinga Scheina d’Asino were used for the vinfication of this Brunello in 2014, which has helped its quality. Drink now-2030+
