2016 Daniele Conterno, Barolo (RT91+) A blend of fruit from single vineyards in three different municipalities: Bussia (Monforte d’Alba), Pugnane (Castiglione Falletto) and Panerole (Novello), and using both Michet and Lampia clones, this is aged for 24 months in Slavonian casks. Crafted in an early drinking style, its medium ruby garnet hue gives way to soft notes of ripe Marasca cherry, spiced plum, forest floor and Asian spice. With time in the glass the palate softens showing notes of balsam and porcino mushroom. The palate is rich, savory and mouthcoating with soft acidity and sweet tannins. This won’t age for long haul but is sumptuous and delicious not given is velvety richness and accessibility. A perfect drink now Barolo!
