1978 Kopke, Colheita Port (RT94) Bottled in 2012, which equates to 34 years of cask aging, then an additional decade in bottle. From one of my favorite tawny port producers comes this firmly structured, broad shouldered tawny, built on a highly structured, long aging foundation. Notes of dried yellow peach, apricot, orange zest, caramel and toffee deliver the main bouquet, but hints of other dried fruits abound, buried in the seemingly endless strata! The mouthfeel amplifies its structural freshness with layers of delicious fruit, wonderfully fresh acidity, and a long, caressing finish. This beauty will be going strong many decades from now, so one needn’t be in a hurry. Drink now-2048+
