2004 Agostina Piero, Brunello di Montalcino (RT94) Sourced from 7 hectares of south-facing vineyard in the lower portions of Castelnuovo dell’Abate where the grapes are harvested by hand and 100% destemmed. Fermentation is long, running 25+ days before racking into large Slovenian oak casks and smaller Demis Muids barrels for 2 years. Only the finest lots of grapes are set aside for this superb Brunello. This was sourced on release and has aged in cellar since. Deep, dark and still hanging on to its masculine bouquet of black fruit, tar, dried florals, wet earth and Tuscan scuff. Packed with ripe fruit and balanced with firm acidity, the tannins remain strong while lending a sense of structure. This is a fine example of Brunello with long aging potential, from a highly structured vintage. Drink now-2034+
