2018 Daniele Conterno, Nebbiolo Langhe (RT91) Blended from young vines grown in various vineyards where the soils are high in a combination of clay and sand and aged for 8-12 months in cask. Classically groomed, this Nebbiolo is pale garnet with a light ruby tinge. Sweet, succulent ripe fruit lend ripe raspberry, strawberry, and cranberry to the forefront of the mix, as notes of rose water and hints of almond bring up the rear. Packed with ripe, mouthcoating Nebbiolo fruit, soft acidity and sweet, soft, drink-now tannins provide a soft punctuation mark. 2016 Daniele Conterno, Barolo (RT91+) A blend of fruit from single vineyards in three different municipalities: Bussia (Monforte d’Alba), Pugnane (Castiglione Falletto) and Panerole (Novello), and using both Michet and Lampia clones, this is aged for 24 months in Slavonian casks. Crafted in an early drinking style, its medium ruby garnet hue gives way to soft notes of ripe Marasca cherry, spiced plum, forest floor and Asian spice. With time in the glass the palate softens showing notes of balsam and porcino mushroom. The palate is rich, savory and mouthcoating with soft acidity and sweet tannins. This won’t age for long haul but is sumptuous and delicious not given is velvety richness and accessibility. A perfect drink now Barolo!

2016 Daniele Conterno, Barolo, Panerole (RT94) Crafted from both Michet and Lampia clones, this single vineyard selection is macerated in wood vats for 30 days prior to aging for 30 months in large Slavonian casks. This is soft and accessible considering the structured vintage, making it a delicious, early drinking option. A big step up from the classico Barolo, this shows deeply ripe notes of black cherry, anise, sweet plums and hints of hazelnut and menthol. The palate is rich and luxurious, layered with ripe fruit, soft acidity, and perfectly ripe sweet tannins. This is a tasty 2016 with a promising future but remains highly accessible. Drink 2024-2036+
