2017 Mastrojanni, Rosso di Montalcino (RT92+) Revealing its deep red cherry dominated bouquet, its overall sumptuous character is accented with notes of sweet tobacco and succulent strawberry, enhanced with a smattering of spicy herbs. The mouthfeel is lush, packed with ripe fruit and finishes with well-balanced acidity and sweet tannins. Aged 6-7 months in 54 HL Allier oak botti, then aged for 3 months in bottle prior to release, this is a delicious Rosso di Montalcino that rises tall in a relatively challenging vintage. 2014 Mastrojanni, Brunello di Montalcino (RT93) Showing deeper, more serious aromatics than its Rosso brethren, dark ripe Marasco cherry layered with Tuscan spice, hints of porcini, dried fruits, fall forest floor and a smattering of cedar create the highlights. Light and elegantly fruited with a serious construct, soft acidity and slightly austere tannins mark the finish. This is a nicely done Brunello in a vintage when many declassified their Brunello juice. Aged 3 years in 16,33 & 54 HL botti crafted of Allier oak, then bottled for at least 6 months prior to release. Not the most long-lived Brunello, but damn tasty! The grapes from the Crus Vigna Loreto and Vinga Scheina d’Asino were used for the vinfication of this Brunello in 2014, which has helped its quality. Drink now-2030+

2010 Mastrojanni, Brunello di Montalcino (RT96+) The 2010 speaks with powerful, structured authority, built on a convincing style layered with black cherry, damson plums, purple violets and hints of cinnamon and Tuscan spices. The rich fruit is decadent and profound, focused and present in spades. Exceptional purity is the name of the game! The palate is equally convincing echoing the theme of gorgeous fruit, stratified in its presentation, the acidity hidden behind the massive wall of sexy, ripe fruit. Sweet, succulent tannins provide a compelling finish. Simply fabulous! Drink now-2040+
