Rivetto was the very first certified Organic and Biodynamic producer in the Piedmont, declaring the hard-earned certification in January, 2020. Gaining certification is no small task, taking many years to work through the process. In Rivetto’s case it even meant sacrificing some vineyards to replant them with forest. The result is only now beginning to be felt, but make no mistake, the wines are exceptional and full of detail and Piedmont authenticism. Based on this declaration, wines going forward will have the proper stamps on the rear label.

2018 Rivetto, Langhe Nebbiolo (RT91+) From the first ever Certified Biodynamic winery in all of Barolo, this lightly hued garnet, 100% Nebbiolo, delivers a delicious, fruity bouquet with notes of sweet strawberry, bright raspberries and hints of minerally terroir with accents cedar and balsam. Packed with attractive fruit in the mouth, it finishes with bright acidity and soft, munchable tannins. Fabulous with a variety of food pairings or on its own. Drink now-2026

2016 Rivetto, Barbera d’Alba, Zio Nando (RT92+) Crafted from destemmed Barbera grapes, 30% of which were planted in 1944 and grown in the west-facing Zio Nando plot of this Serralunga vineyard. With its dense, nearly opaque ruby-purple hue, notes of cranberry, menthol, balsam and hints of spice and new leather emerge. A luxurious mouthfeel with a tangy punctuation mark and round tannins leads to a zesty finish. Quite lovely, despite it improving a touch with cellaring it begs to be drunk now! Drink now-2030+

2014 Rivetto, Barolo, Del Comune di Serralunga (RT92+) Crafted from entirely estate grown fruit from the Serra, Mancino and San Bernardo vineyards, this is a traditional wine aged for Slavonian casks. This translucent ruby Barolo shows high pitched, mineral driven tones for this relatively soft vintage. Mineral layered notes of dark red cherry, raspberry, violets and punctuated with notes of balsam and menthol lead to a vibrant, seductive palate built on ripe, delicious fruit, nice acidity and soft tannins. Very much a product of the vintage, this is a wine that works very well with food and will age for the midterm very well. Drink 2022-2032+
