2003 Roagna, Barbaresco DOCG, Paje (RT96) At age 18 this stunner, arguably the finest and freshest wine of this very challenging vintage, is showing it exceptional class in spades. With its pale ruby-garnet hue that fades at the rim, notes of mentholated dried morello cherry are the foundation of the wine as accents of rose hips, red currant, anis and hints of sous bois build its vibe. Impressively fresh for such a hot vintage, its near weightless fruit, bright acidity, and sweet silky tannins deliver sheer magnificence. Now firmly in its peak drinking window, this should continue to slowly evolve and drink superbly for another couple decades. Impressive! Drink now-2040+
